MAPLE SPRINGS, a village on Lake Pepin in sections 17 and 20 of Pepin Township, originally called Kings Cooley, with a railway station of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad. Kings Cooley was named for the coulee, or ravine, on the farm of a settler named King.
