Rice County

WEBSTER Township, first settled in the spring of 1855, commemorates Ferris Webster, one of its most prominent pioneers. He was born in Franklin, N.Y., February 2, 1802; came to Minnesota in 1856, settling here as a farmer; he had a store in section 35; he died August 24, 1880. A post office was established in the township in 1879, first in section 8 in the home of Ferdinand Butzke and later in the store in section 10 on Magnus Olson's land, along with a creamery.
